About IREM

The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) has been the source for education, resources, information, and membership for real estate management professionals for more than 75 years. An affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®, IREM is the only professional real estate management association serving both the multi-family and commercial real estate sectors. With 80 U.S. chapters, 12 international chapters, and several other partnerships around the globe, IREM is an international organization that also serves as an advocate on issues affecting the real estate management industry.

Membership includes more than 18,000 individual members and 515 corporate members. IREM promotes ethical real estate management practices through its credentialed membership programs, including the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation, the Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) certification, the Accredited Commercial Manager (ACOM) certification, and the Accredited Management Organization (AMO) accreditation. These esteemed credentials certify competence and professionalism for those engaged in real estate management. In addition, IREM offers Associate, Student, and Academic memberships.

Collectively, IREM CPM Members in the United States manage over $1.5 trillion in real estate assets, including 8.4 million residential units and 8.4 billion net square feet of commercial space. An additional 977,400 residential units are managed by IREM ARM Members. IREM Members are employed by some of the most prestigious real estate firms in the world and nearly 70% hold upper-level management positions. Due to their professionalism and vast experience, property owners and investors worldwide continually seek out the management services of IREM Members.

About Us

Delaware Valley Chapter No. 3 was formed in 1940 with thirty-six charter members. Since then, it has grown to encompass one hundred thirty-seven Certified Property Manager Members, thirty-nine Accredited Management Organization Member Firms (Headquarters and Branch offices), forty-four Certified Property Manager Candidates, one hundred eighty Accredited Residential Manager Members and forty Associate members.

Delaware Valley Chapter No. 3 has been the recipient of the much coveted “Chapter of the Year” award in the large chapter category eight times in the last thirteen years, a tribute to the achievements and contributions of the chapter membership. The Chapter newsletter, Delaware Valley’s Manager was first published in 1988 under the leadership of then President Rita D. Vogt, CPM, and continues to be published quarterly. The newsletter puts into concise form the events and activities within the Chapter, news from IREM National and Region II Chapters, career opportunities and legislative issues.

The ARM Committee, was named a winner in the ARM Committee of the Year competition in 1991, 1997 and again in 1998. This very active committee holds meetings as well as half and full day seminars regularly in the eastern, western, northern and southern areas of the chapter’s jurisdiction. The committee was recognized in 1999 for its recruitment efforts.

The chapter sponsors many educational offerings, including a joint partnership with other chapters in Region II to offer Fundamental, Intermediate and Advanced level IREM courses in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York areas. In an effort to enable our CPM Candidates to meet their educational requirements for the CPM designation, the chapter offers IREM’s Course 800 “Ethics in Real Estate Management” seminar on an annual basis. It also holds Candidate only receptions to answer questions and help them through the process toward becoming a Certified Property Manager.

Dinner meetings continue to be held approximately nine times a year, with an annual Friends of IREM Showcase, a Golf Outing in May and a Real Estate Market Forecast, held in January, in cooperation with other local real estate associations, including BOMA, the Apartment Association of Greater Philadelphia and the Tri-State Commercial & Industrial Board of Realtors.
